What to Wear

Deciding what to wear for your session can often be the most difficult aspect of the entire custom photography experience. That is always the first question I am asked by my clients. Well, I am a lover of bright colors, so I always say, go bright! I love rich jewel tones like magenta, purple, green, blue, teal, orange, and gold. Below is a color wheel. I think choosing complementary colors in the color families make perfect sense! All you have to do to choose complementary colors is to choose one color from the wheel, and it's complement is the color directly across from it. You can also choose analgous colors, which means you choose colors that are beside one another, like blue and green. If you dress everyone in variations of the two, you will have a beautifully planned family portrait. Everyone will coordinate, without being overly matchy, matchy.

I also ask clients not to wear tiny, busy patterns or clothes with writing or distracting logos. This will take away from what the focus should be on, the subject being photographed. I will gladly help you decide if the outfits you have chosen are appropriate. You can email or text photos to me and I will offer my advice to ensure you and your family look polished on the day of your photo shoot. :)
